Astrid Rakow
Astrid Rakow is a computer scientist and senior researcher at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Systems Engineering for Future Mobility. Her work bridges formal methods, value alignment, and system-level assurance to make autonomous systems safer, more transparent, and socially acceptable. She develops conflict-sensitive design principles and integrates formal scenario languages such as Traffic Sequence Charts (TSCs) into the development and monitoring of autonomous vehicles. Her current research explores how explicit modeling of value conflicts and explainability mechanisms can strengthen safety and trust in autonomous mobility.
