Jan Drgona is a data scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Richland, WA. His current research interests fall in the intersection of model-based optimal control, constrained optimization, and machine learning. Before joining PNNL, Jan was a postdoc at KU Leuven, Belgium, working on model predictive control (MPC) of buildings. Jan has a PhD in Control Engineering from Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia. His PhD thesis titled “Model Predictive Control with Applications in Building Thermal Comfort Control” is focused on learning-based approaches towards solution of MPC. His MSc thesis was on the “Efficient Modeling of Hybrid Systems”, finalized during the research stay at Linköping University, Sweden.
